Homework is assigned Monday through Thursday. Homework will include a Literacy and Mathematics task. Unless otherwise noted, homework assignments are due the following school day. The assignments will supplement the day or week's lessons. Please remind your child to check his/her folder nightly for homework assignments. Anything stamped "Homework...Please Bring Back Tomorrow" needs to be returned the following day, completed and with your child's name on it (without a name, I do not know to whom the homework belongs, so credit cannot be given for the assignment). Anything stamped "Read-Aloud-At-Home" is also homework. It should be signed and returned to school. Read-Aloud-At-Home items should be saved for future readings once they are passed back to your child. Remember that reading at home should be an on-going activity. Especially on evenings when homework assignments are finished early, children should be reading to/with and adult for about 15 minutes. Math facts should also be practiced regularly (addition and subtraction to 20). The goal is to reach automaticity of these facts by the end of second grade.
Several projects will be assigned throughout the year. Notices regarding such projects and their due dates will come home in your child's folder.
